Helping to make your conservatory an everyday room

The inexperienced conservatory salesman is not gong to tell you that your conservatory can reach temperatures of 100°F in summer and fall to near freezing in winter, that glare can make reading uncomfortable and the sun's UV rays will accelerate fading of fabrics and furnishing.

Traditional internal blinds can be an attractive interior furnishing, providing shade.  However, not everyone wants to have blinds in the roof of their conservatory or may feel that even with blinds they need a little more protection in the roof.

The Greenhouse Effect

The major cause of excessive heat build up in conservatories is the roof. Clear polycarbonate allows 80% of the sun's solar energy to pass directly into your conservatory.  As a result, the air temperature rises in the enclosed space making occupation uncomfortable.  This effect is often referred to as “The Greenhouse Effect”.

Winter heat loss

In winter, generated heat rises and escapes through the roof, Polycarbonate, with a typical U-Value of between 2.3 and 3, whilst generally providing better insulation than glass is still the principle cause of heat loss.  Solar Inserts increase the U-Value and reflects rising heat back into the conservatory making you more comfortable in winter.

A common sense solution

Solar inserts when inserted into the cavities of polycarbonate act as a solar shield, preventing the sun's solar energy passing through the roof whilst allowing high levels of natural light into the conservatory.  The bright airy feel in maintained.  UV, the principle cause of fading, is virtually eliminated and the glare is dramatically reduced.

Solar Inserts available in silver / silver, silver / blue, silver / green, gold / gold.
